The Fresno Dog Training Club was established on October 26,1956. The objective of the club was/is to protect and advance the interests of all dogs in obedience and any and all other performance events that might come about in the future. Because we are not an all breed club, we do not have a strong focus on conformation events. However, many of our members also enjoy this sport.
The basic goals of our club are to conduct obedience and agility trials under the rules and auspices of the American Kennel Club and to develop and popularize obedience training. Our first obedience trial was November 21, 1959 and we have held trials ever since.
At the present time we hold an Obedience and Rally trial in conjunction with the Sun Maid Kennel Club's all breed show at the Fresno Fairgrounds on the first weekend in February. We also hold back to back Agility trials in the fall on the last weekend in October or the first weekend in November at the Madera County Fairgrounds.
